Graig Fatha Co-op:

We are an independent consumer-owned co-op.

We own and operate our own wind turbine, providing energy savings to our members.

Our Co-operative

Graig Fatha Co-op holds a majority shareholding in the Graig Fatha wind turbine, located just outside Tonyrefail, Rhondda Cynon Taf in South Wales. The construction was made possible thanks to a grant from the Welsh Government, and has been generating zero carbon electricity from the wind since March 2022.

We are a ‘1 member 1 vote’ consumer co-op with over 900 members. Each of our members owns a share of the wind turbine that generates the equivalent of up to 120% of their annual electricity consumption. Members receive  energy savings payments which contribute towards reducing and stabilising their electricity bills. A

After operating costs, around a quarter of our surplus income is awarded to two community organisations.
