A partnership between Graig Fatha, the Fuel Bank Foundation and Interlink RCT is continuing to deliver meaningful support to communities across Rhondda Cynon Taf, helping both households in crisis and local community groups organise support groups and events.

Since the partnership began in 2022, funding from Graig Fatha’s renewable energy project has helped 9,469 people facing fuel poverty, with 42% of those supported being children. Through work with the Fuel Bank Foundation, individuals and families have received emergency fuel top-ups alongside practical energy advice, ensuring that those most in need are able to access essential energy during difficult periods.

The need for this support remains high. Between April and September 2025 alone, a further 663 people were helped, including 392 adults and 271 children, reflecting the ongoing pressures facing many households.

Alongside this work tackling fuel insecurity, Graig Fatha funding is also supporting local community projects through Interlink RCT, which distributes grants to grassroots organisations across the county. This has enabled groups to improve facilities, expand activities and strengthen their role within the community.

Among those to benefit are Hirwaun Men’s Shed, which received funding to install new workshop flooring, improving safety and accessibility for its members, and Bryncynon Strategy, which has used funding to provide Welsh language classes for volunteers, helping to promote local culture while also reducing loneliness and isolation.
